In this episode, we talk about our adventures in knitting (mostly the same as last week, with one finished object) as well as spinning and dyeing. There’s news from the first couple days of San Diego Comic-Con (not firsthand, sadly), some out of this world news (sorry, couldn’t resist) with what may be Neil Gaiman’s moon (*snerk*) as well as more geeky reading. Finally, we share another favourite indie dyer as well as a fanartist that had Karen melting into a puddle of goo. Not that that’s terribly hard.
Discussed in this episode:
Hansa Mittens (one! one mitten finished! hahaha…)
Spinning fibers explained courtesy of Ask the Bellwether and BellaOnline
Ghost Story, the next book in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher
Comic-Con updates: ComingSoon.net, Topless Robot, a report on the line for the Twilight: Breaking Dawn panel and a bullet point about Andy Serkis’ cameo at the Adventures of Tintin panel (is there no video of this? Seriously?).
The epic Countingdown.com Star Wars line of 1999: an article from Slate, and a snippet of Anticipation: The Real Life Story of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (Google Books link)
Pluto’s newest moon and the campaign to name it after Neil Gaiman
Atlantis’ landing(short version from NASA, longer version for fellow nerds), towing Atlantis to the tune of “Star Trek: Voyager” and the Spirit rover (Jan. 4, 2004-May 24, 2011 :’( ) slideshow
Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carringer
Fall Twist Collective is coming soon! And an early release of one of the patterns: Hawthorne Hat & Mitts Set by Suzanna IC
Interweave Knits Fall 2011 preview (at the moment the magazine’s home page is the preview–the link to the preview specifically keeps giving me an error, arrgh.)
Lily Fox’s Deviant Art (including “In Another Life: Wake Up“, aka the drawing that had Karen wibbling over Snape again)
(PS: Yes, I saw Deathly Hallows again tonight. DON’T JUDGE ME.)

Eeee, thanks for the mention! I was actually just thinking yesterday that I should look up your podcast after hearing it mentioned on the Electric Sheep. It’s a small world of knit-podcasting after all.
Hi, Ladies! I think we should name something in the Kyper belt (sp?) after Neil Gaiman. They’re discovering a lot of cool stuff out there every week! Also, I’m a big fan of the Parasol Protectorate series – very cool to hear a shout out for it!
Found your podcast via Ravelry. Absolutely loving it! My soon to be husband and I are considering Comic-con 2012 for our summer vacation (if we can get tickets) and also have to say that I haven’t been knitting much lately but I am now browsing Ravelry for a mitten pattern – thanks for inspiration!
We are happy to be the enablers that we are, Vic! Welcome to the club!
Just found your podcast and am rapidly going through the episodes. Thought I would share a picture my daughter drew for a friend as it relates to Harry Potter and Potter Puppet Pals, which we love. http://dancing1233.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d36kwx4
