This week Maggie has a huge basket containing the results of her spinning binges, some of which is actually being turned into projects! There’s a hat, a mitten, some merino-silk and an X-Men fleece. She and Karen are also both working on sweaters. During a heat wave. Seriously, there is something wrong here. Meanwhile, Karen has also finished a cowl and is still working on a pair of socks; socks which may appear on Japanese national television. No, really. Also, Karen now has two more sweaters’ worth of yarn, thanks to some great customer service from Webs. Now she just needs to…er… find room for it.
In Geek Squee, there’s discussion of a couple movies Karen has seen recently (GUYS, GO SEE PACIFIC RIM) and of course there’s lots of news from Comic-Con about shows we love or that are coming, including Sherlock, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the next few Marvel movies. Naturally we can’t NOT comment on the appearance of a certain villain at the beginning of the Marvel panel, nor can we resist venting our intense jealousy of those that saw clips (or ENTIRE EPISODES) of said shows. Bastards. There’s also some artwork featuring some of the most famous nerds that’s raising money for Operation Smile, as well as a certain author you may have heard of who was recently revealed as the author of a mystery novel that–until now–had some great reviews but not-so-great sales.
In Cravings, Covets and Crushes, we had a little preview of a special issue from Interweave with designs inspired by Harry Potter (an actual purchased copy, we should mention!) which sadly is only available in the United States, as well as an innovative way of writing charts for stitch patterns. This will blow your mind, people.
Finally, we got a package from a listener, so there’s a lot of squealing. THANK YOU, LAURA!
